1. Mrs Ilaoa orders 5 boxes of bats. If each box contains 7 bats, how many bats are there altogether? 35


(Working Out) firstly I would add 7+7=14 then we have three more so we would do 7+7+7=21,then I would add up in all the answers, 21+14=35,so that answer is 35.





2. She then orders 23 boxes of cones. If each box contains 8 cones, how many cones are there altogether? 8+8+8=24,then we have only 20 more left,8+8+8+8+8+8+8+8=64,then we have only 8+8+8+8+8+8+8+8+8+8+8+8+8=104+24+64=192





3.Mrs Tele’a orders pencils for team 5. She orders 25 boxes of 12 pencils. How many pencils are there altogether?


25x10=250 250x2=500


4. Chance has brought some lollies in to share with the class for her birthday. She has brought 14 packets which contain 12 lollies each. How many lollies are there altogether? 14 (times)


12+12+12+12+12+12+12+12+12+12+12+12+12+12=168





5. Team 5 are working out how much money they can make from their fundraising at the garage sale.





If they sell 27 plates of food for $12 each, how much money will they make? 25x15=375





If they sell 45 cakes for $15 each, how much money will they make? 15+15+15+15+15+15+15+15+15+15+15+15+15+15+15+15+15+15+15+15=300, 15+15+15+15+15+15+15+15+15+15+15+15+15+15+15+12+13+15+13+12+15=305 15+12+13+15+15=70, then I would add up all the answers,300+305+70=675





6. Room 4 is 12m long and 11m wide. What is the area of the room? So I would just add them all together,12m x 11m=132m
