Discovering Aotearoa

Hi my name is Sauma for today's summer learning journey post is about your culture, Well my Culters are pretty difficult and it is (TWO!!), and they are Tongan,Samoan Let's GET STARTED,

My MUM is from The KINGDOM OF TONGA, Of following traditional customs, especially on the outer islands. The distinctive traditional dress 'ta'ovala' – worn as a waist mat. And the ceremonial tradition of kava drinking, the traditional Polynesian drink, is a very real part of Tongans life.    


 MY DAD IS FROM THE The traditional Culture of Samoa is a community way of life based on Fa'a Samoa, the unique sociology-political culture. In Samoa culture,most activities are done together. There are three main parts in the Samoan culture that is faith, family and music. The extended family lives and works together.



I hope you did learn something from Tongan culture and Samoan culture, SUMMER LEARNING JOURNEY DAY 1.

    Thank you for sharing your families culture. How awesome!

    Both cultures are so beautiful and warm - I have visited both Samoa and Tonga and absolutely loved the culture in the country. Have you visited your family back home? Or do they come and visit you?

    I have never had the opportunity to try kava - what does it taste like? Do you enjoy it?
