Hippos

1	A Hippo is a small, light animal.	A hippopotamus is a large heavy animal. It has a big round body. A big head, and short legs .
2	Hippos live in the water.	In the hottest part of the day , hippos rest in the water. They close together.
3	Mother Hippos try to keep their babies away from the fighting Hippos.	Most mother hippos move away from the herd to have their babies. Each mather tries to keep her baby out of the way of the dangerous fighting bulls .
4	Baby hippos are always left by themselves.
5	Hippos enjoy eating grass.	When the sun goes down, hippos leave  their pools and rivers to feed on grass . sometimes the best grass right up out of the ground . When the ground is bare, the herd has to find a new place .
6	Lions leave Hippos alone.	After feeding in the dark for a new hours, hippos go back to the water where they feel safe . On land, hungry lions try to hunt young hippos that are not with their mothers .
7	Hippos can stay underwater for 10 minutes.	Hippos can stay underwater for five minutes at a time . they walk along the river bed on tiptoe .
